Hello Gifter!

Nice to meet you, my Yuletide compatriot! I go by Medusa, she/her, antimony_medusa on Ao3 or antimony-medusa on tumblr. This is my fourth time doing Yuletide and I’m excited to dive into smaller fandoms again! I hope you are having an excellent exchange and end-of-year season, and thank you for taking on this gift! I have attempted to organise my thoughts in this letter, let’s go.

Some of these fandoms I have lots of thoughts about and some of them I have little– that is because with some of these ideas I just become the “brainful” emoji and stare at them with no thoughts in my head. But I still love them. I would be equally happy to get a gift for literally anything I requested, I did not request anything I would not be delighted with.

Note that I included my Smut likes and DNW more out of a sense of covering my bases than any expectation. Do not feel compelled to write smut! But if the spirit moves you I wanted to put down some guideposts for you. I don't have strong feelings about top/bottom or dom/sub dynamics in any fandom, feel free to follow your bliss.

The only thing I'm iffy on is crossovers involving my requested characters meeting the cast of another universe i.e. philza minecraft meets the avengers.
• In-universe documents or viewpoints such as in-universe RPF or in-universe newscasts
• Playing with someone’s hair as a gesture of love/affection
• “You say you’re no good, but you’re good for me” yes this is a lyric from kpop demon hunters shhhhhhhhh we all find inspiration in different places
• Conversations or interactions in which things are not said directly, but in the hollow space between the words, OH, the care is there.
• Conversely, taking these series of people who are bad at emotions and speaking who I’ve been requesting and forcing them to talk about the importance of the relationship to them. Puts them in the hydraulic press– tell your loved ones you love them, you bastards.
• It took me this entire letter to realize this but I think I have a soft spot for people who find emotions hard, whether that’s because they’re repressed, or emotions are overwhelming, or speaking about them never seems to work, or no one is listening, or because they’re eleven. You do not have to do that but like do not ever worry that you are writing people “too repressed” or “too bad at emotions”, my initial comfort characters were literally worf and spock star trek. I have a murderbot book on my desk. Gestures to my requested characters.
• Inhuman POV/perspective, for example Fae, robot, character who doesn’t think of themself as a person, hive mind, etc— showing a different form of cognition and reaching past that gap.
• Mercyfic. Just fuck me up.
• I have a specific fondness for aus or stories in which someone finds a home or community or a friend after a period without that, which you can kind of see throughout this whole likes list, but other examples of the trope include college or early-20s AU but specifically through the lens of finding queer or nerd community and finding there are other people like you (full permission to bring in crushing loneliness or bullying or outright queerphobia as something that you are now realizingly with startlement isn’t in this place, even if it is in others), people in their 30s or later who’ve been alone a long time finding love or friendship or both (same permission stands for The World Has Told You You Are Intrinsically Wrong framing), and that entire trope of “human weapon gets stolen/rescued and has FRIENDS now”.

Ahem. Right. I mean, yeah. Hi, it’s me, I’m the predictable aeduo/techza person in the SMPEarth tag. I just. I like them. *The camera pans to where I have a SMPEarth vod open in my tabs. Or wait, is that two VODS, one from Techno’s POV and one from Phil’s? Wow.* Ahahahah. We don’t have to go into how abnormal I am about those guys, it’s fine, it’s all FINE.

Antarctic Empire! We live in the cold at the bottom of the world, and it sucks, but it’s home. We’ll take over the world together, follow each other to the gates of hell. It’s about being absolutely ride or die besties, while also just casually trusting each other with your back. Anything worth doing is worth doing way, way too hard, from building a house to claiming land to being friends. The aeduo/techza relationship is the core of the interest for me, but I also really love worldbuilding (including political worldbuilding) on this absolutely bonkers map, i love plays on the canon taking over the world or moon battle, I love aus taking the canon and flying into the horizon with it, and I love inventing some more peril and then doing hurt/comfort about it.

I am good with AEduo being platonic, war buddies, besties, qpr, or romantic, and I’m good with appearances from other characters, especially Tommy’s cringefail assassination attempts, FitMC friendship, Sophie and Techno’s immediate meeting of the minds, and Sneeg just arriving and installing himself as a friend. Also note that I’m also fine with a populated world for SMPEarth, and feel free to make up some OCs about it. In terms of ships, I’m good with any of the tag set characters being shipped in any way, and feel free to really just lean into worldbuilding as long as aeduo are also there.

• Okay this one takes a little more to explain, but specifically one of the characters (I'm thinking techno) stuck in a time loop where he keeps seeing massive military losses, loosing all his people he's responsible for and also his co-emperor dies. It seems like the only way out of the time loop is "accepting the loss" but he refuses to do that, because surely if he does this enough times he can figure out a way to save people? And then by pure stubbornness and tactics and don’t ever ever say die he defeats the time loop and saves people? (Note that with this prompt I’m okay with major character death cause it doesn’t stick.)
• Retelling the taking over the world in a new funky format-- script, or 2nd person, or found footage, or epistolary-- go for it!
• Wingfic - Comforter's wings as warm covering for hurt/sick character. What if they were COZY.
• Dehumanized and Abused Character is Shown Genuine Love and Affection– either taking this in a literal and au direction (i’m literally always at home to this trope) or playing with how Techno was increasingly never seen as a person, just a threat or an opportunity for advancement– except for his very few friends.

Origins SMP

Origins my beloved. Alive and dead and alive and dead and alive and dead again. AND ALIVE IN OUR HEARTS. I love the sort of wacky hijinks tone, and the sense of community and care, and the idea that despite some of these people being villains they have a network of people they love.

I just specified Phil because that’s my guy, but I’m also very happy to see appearances from Niki, Techno, or Sneeg and would cheer them on, I just didn’t want to force you to write full-cast. In terms of ships I’m also okay with phil, niki, sneeg, and/or techno in any combination of friendship, some kind of QPR, or something romantic/sexual. Goblin Emperor

Goblin Emperor my absolute beloved. I requested Maia, but I’d also be happy with any combination of Cala Athmaza, Csethiro Ceredin, Csevet Aisava, and/or Deret Beshelar. I’d also be happy with things featuring worldbuilding, as that's a big draw of the series for me. I love the strong platonic bonds in the series, and the continual choosing of friendship and kindness despite it all, and the hope, and the formal grammar (with incredibly important breaks into informality), and did I mention the friendship?

This series is so close to my heart. I just want to spend time in the world, with the loyalties and friendships and trusting in the goodness of people despite it all. Anything you do will be good. :D

Any constellation of characters in the tag set would delight me. I would literally be happy with anything in this world, I'm subscribed to the author's patreon for extra snippets. I love the main characters, I love the worldbuilding, and I love Istre b'Estorr (loyal survivalist necromancer of my heart). Go crazy.

This is a situation where I don't have a lot of words to say because I am just failing madly at you about this world and these guys. Friendship! Romance! Murder! Tea! Astrology! It's all here! Anything you can do would please me!

Dangerous Crow Boy Whose Job It Is to Destroy Plastic (Tumblr Post)

Okay so the moment I saw someone nominating this on the evident post I bust into the group chat like GUESS WHAT’S IN YULETIDE THIS YEAR. I think we can make something really beautiful together.

Fandom Specific Likes: I do have an unrepentant love for fae au urban fantasy. I also love snarky banter and bossy women and dangerous guys who turn out to be dorks. I also love autistic romance and working class characters. I also love comedy. I love competence and other people finding other person’s competence incredibly hot. I love people finding someone and just clicking, especially if they’ve been alone or settling for a long time before. I also love size difference. • Delve into worldbuilding. How on earth do you get a job as the guy to destroy plastic? Do the other crows make fun of him. Is this actually a pretty important job that he’s responsible for? Is plastic basically cold iron and he’s a nuclear firefighter? Is he actually respectable?
• Crow boy gets introduced to candy crush and he’s like oh my god this is the best thing I’ve ever seen. And then she sits on his lap and kisses him maybe idk. There was a lot of size difference in that art.
• Crow boy watches his bossy house guest skillfully lie to someone and is like holy shit this woman is the hottest person I’ve ever seen in my life. How’d you DO that and she’s like I worked customer service for seven years. Anyways that guy trying to kill you shouldn’t be an issue any more. He’s like would you like to get married. Was that out loud. And she’s like i’ll consider it.
• I think our woman should get to watch her crow boy destroy a bunch of people in sword fighting and plastic-destruction and then maybe take his shirt off and just enjoy faerie you know. The vistas. The sights. The fact that he just wiped off his face with his shirt. Enrichment for her. She deserves it.
• This one is out there but anyways I think consider if they were both adhd and she got him his first latte and he was like first of all it tastes like a spice cake and second of all why did my brain just slow down everything feels calmer and she’s like oh boy yeah you’ve been rawdogging this haven’t you. Anyways then they bond over coffee.
