It took me this entire letter to realize this but I think I have a soft spot for people who find emotions hard, whether that’s because they’re repressed, or emotions are overwhelming, or speaking about them never seems to work, or no one is listening, or because they’re eleven. You do not have to do that but like do not ever worry that you are writing people “too repressed” or “too bad at emotions”, my initial comfort characters were literally worf and spock star trek. I have a murderbot book on my desk. Gestures to my requested characters.
Inhuman POV/perspective, for example Fae, robot, character who doesn’t think of themself as a person, hive mind, etc— showing a different form of cognition and reaching past that gap.
Mercyfic. Just fuck me up.
I have a specific fondness for aus or stories in which someone finds a home or community or a friend after a period without that, which you can kind of see throughout this whole likes list, but other examples of the trope include college or early-20s AU but specifically through the lens of finding queer or nerd community and finding there are other people like you (full permission to bring in crushing loneliness or bullying or outright queerphobia as something that you are now realizingly with startlement isn’t in this place, even if it is in others), people in their 30s or later who’ve been alone a long time finding love or friendship or both (same permission stands for The World Has Told You You Are Intrinsically Wrong framing), and that entire trope of “human weapon gets stolen/rescued and has FRIENDS now”.

Likes for this ship: I am having trouble summing this up, forgive me. I like it when Phil is a bastard, and I also like it when he is an anxiety basket case. Phil and Techno are heroes and villains on the opposite sides, and the hero one gets absolutely whammied/whumped by other villains, and then the villain has to rescue them and take them home to recover. Alternately, fuck them up with the “hero and villain captured by worse villain” original works prompt.
cliches are bad, you say? What about enemy shows up bloody and bruised on your doorstep because they had nowhere else to turn? Hmmm? That’s what I THOUGHT.
Okay so I’ve seen this trope happen TWICE with reincarnation, including in the death shall come on swift wings and in the aufest omegaverse au, and neither one really leaned into this, and I simply think it could go so fucking hard if you have techno who thinks he’s being captured to be tortured or that he has to kill the emperor/god/mafia boss, and then the emperor takes him alive, and then he wakes up in the emperor’s bed.
What if Techno was a very neurodivergent kid and Phil was the also kid who can turn into a crow who he met in the woods. And they were friends. (Note: I think this one could turn into “and it’s the apocalypse” or “and then friendship and happiness” so follow your bliss.)
Based on that web weave about emduo betrayal, but I couldn’t leave it there, but what if we have the emduo betrayal ideas:

One where Techno is like a king in a cutthroat court and always on edge and being betrayed and all he wants is to be able to trust someone and Phil is an adviser using him like the rest and THEN a different phil gets isekaied into adviser phil and he literally can’t fathom being horrible to a techno who likes and trusts him. And then FRIENDSHIP HAPPENS.
Star trek mirrorverse (or a fantasy au etc using that concept of an evil universe) where a techno from the mirrorverse (phil is his superior who expects service and sexual favours in return for protection) swaps with a techno from alpha verse where emduo are nerd besties

And then either you follow this techno who is experiencing friendship and loyalty for the first time and something in him just is a plant getting sunlight for the first time (and maybe starts kissing Phil and phil is startled and delighted and and something happens there and techno is continuously startled when phil is kind to him).
Or you follow the techno who just got dropped into betrayal world and his best friend is cruel and expects him to kneel to him (/sx) and everything is bad. And then, I am looking at you with the :weh: emotion, and we are putting aside the question about if this is a reasonable relationship arc in real life, what if phil sees techno in a place where techno should betray him, and expects him to turn, and techno won’t do it, and phil is like do I hve to walk you step by step through advancing your career, you should have killed me what’s wrong with you, and techno’s like but I don’t want to *stubborn* and phil is like what is WRONG with you and then gets a chance to throw techno away and finds himself not doing it and then is like fine. I take over the world and I’m taking you as my pet enforcer and mirror!phil decides to be loyal to one (1) person. And then they take over the galaxy or something. (Note: this is the one where the “unrequested” part of unrequested noncon between members of the ship comes in. Feel free to consent issues that guy up using evil phil.)

Phil gets killed and Techno is gonna stop at absolutely nothing to get the revival book to get him back.

Phil as this guy who’s had a bunch of bad roommate situations so he lives alone, and this is fine, and he’s ignoring how lonely he is. And he starts imagining a person beside him on the couch, someone asking him how his day is, and he kind of is leaning into this cause it’s fun but at the same time making fun of himself for having an imaginary friend, but then suddenly one day his imaginary friend does something and Phil realises that he’s been so lonely he’s made contact with a ghost, his imaginary friend is real. They were both so lonely they found a way to talk to each other. And then he finds a way to bring him back to life and they hug/kiss.
Hurt/Comfort to the max, consider: Best friends (maybe considering more if you want) who are on call with each other (in space! In canon! In superhero au!) and then one or the other of them gets Got and Bad Things Happen and the other person can’t get to them in time but is on the line. That’s the Hurt. And then we hit the COMFORT which is they goddamn go to get them, and get them out, and then healing happens. Honestly I think this trope might be bulletproof you can do that with any pairing.
In the whole world, there is this person you trust enough to cuddle into them and rest.

Techniki/Technikiza

I am a recent convert to this ship, I’ve seen things going around and I didn’t really get it but I supported it and then like a month ago I sat upright and was like “niki nihachu deserves to be kissed and supported and I know just the guys to do it” and here we are.

Likes for this ship: God. I think Niki Nihachu deserves the world and she should get a partner or two who adores her. She should get to be angry and she should get to be held and she should have Really Good Sex and be kissed all over her face about it. I like it when Techno is a neurodivergent nerd, whether he's a beefy boy or built like someone who plays competitive bedwars. I like it when Phil was so lonely for so long and that still weighs on him sometimes, but he has people now. I like it when both Phil and Techno are gentle with Niki and that sometimes means treating her normally, not like glass. I like it when Niki is the heart of the story and she watch as she gets to find herself loving again. I like it when emotions are hard and awful but worth having, in the end.

Playing with hybrid worldbuilding– what if niki was piglin? Is she connected to her culture or removed from it and does she have feelings about that? What if she was avian/elytrian? I have seen some approaches to this with niki as diaspora and they make me go crazy, or just fucking throw up a bunch of worldbuilding here!
Recovering after a bad/abusive/complex relationship– guys I am taking my heart in my hands here and asking for a lot but I think everyone who’d want to tackle this request I can trust—All of technikiza has a history with wilbur– what if an exploration of that grief and hurt and sorrow and moving forward. Note that for this one I’m okay with an exploration of niki and wilbur as being abusive/neglectful, but the needle I am asking to thread is that there is no outright vilification of wilbur by the narrative (niki can feel however she feels and that’s fair), I am asking for a thing where yes it was bad and even abusive and wilbur was at fault but also there were reasons, you get me? Avoid the insane wilbur soot tag, etc. Let it be complicated, grief is complicated, healing is complicated. But let them find comfort in each other.
Just sex with niki having a wonderful time– do a character study about all of them kind of being tentative and sincere and loving each other, or just smut about how many orgasms two dedicated nerds can wring out of their girlfriend. Go crazy.
I signed up with these ships to the omegaverse exchange and I’d be happy with any of the tags being used as a jumping off point for a fic or art.
Established comfortable Niki in an au (superhero? fantasy?) who comes into contact (hires?) these kind of raggedy guys, and then to everyone’s delight they become friends—they keep making her laugh, they help out without making it a big deal, she wants them to stay around. I like both when people really lean into the divinity of kristin (and maybe make the others deities too or devotees), or if people set an AU where Kristin is just human– but the unshakeable loyalty and devotion is still there.

Okay hear me out. Homestead au. What if they had like a little farm and did canning and kept chickens and stuff. Long dirt driveway to get into the place, and constant negotiation about who has to sit in the back in the car/truck. Maybe the big challenge is the electricity going out in a storm.
HEIST TEAM. Make them leverage trio about it. Make them all really good at their jobs and god they are so into watching each other work.

Some setup where it either happens or implies that ohhhh, etoiles and phil saving missa again, taking care of him, and then missa goes back to his life and resumes his scheduled life and then makes a proper meal for them and phil and etoiles are both like holy SHIT because they’ve been living on drip coffee and avocado toast (and missa gets to take care of them a little bit).

Missa this true romantic gentleman of a guy with self esteem issues who loves so much and is sure he's just a guy who falls in a hole when he tries, he'll just hide away out of the way. But he's loved, actually! And Phil not sure if what he feels is romantic, not sure if what he feels CAN be romantic, but he loves Missa and he wants him to be part of his life. If he can just work through some of this four centuries of emotional repression first. Any second now, he'll figure out how to talk about this— I just think they should cuddle and Phil should kiss the top of Missa's head and Missa will maybe experience a tiny heart attack from joy, you know? For death family, I like it when Phil is a survivalist with anxiety and this affects him but he’s not vilified for it– they live on death peril island. And he is not used to having people in his life and he’s sure he’s messing it up and being a crap dad/partner but he loves them all SO much. Chayanne older sibling– he cares so much and he wants to protect the world and sometimes he goes wait no I want to go home, and then he’s back to trying to protect again because he can’t do otherwise, people are in danger! And Lullah is little and has a bit of a chip on her shoulder from abandonment issues and being sure she’s second in everyone’s ranking, but she just wants to love and be loved and be part of the family– cook with them, bed next to theirs, fight alongside them. And I’m fascinated with the possibility of their interactions with the gods! A god who cares for them, when they are so small– do they get to make her laugh? Does she love them? Do they love her back?

I am a big fan of using sign, physical signs, or a AAC for the eggs to communicate, but do what works best for the narrative!

Okay incredibly specific AU but I am so enamoured of the idea of like 18 year old disaster Phil in his terrible student housing eating ramen and then GUESS WHAT he gets assigned two kids. You know the friendship that happens when you get stranded in an isolated airport with people for 5 days? You’ve got in jokes that have in jokes? You’ve been through some SHIT together and little things like “why do you all sleep in a pile together now” is details. I love the strong friendship and loyalty here, and also the complete madcap energy of people building bits on each other for hours. Team as family but in the least nuclear way possible, just that you’re bonded forever with these people. What if they had simply the WEIRDEST dynamic and everybody was like “get a lot of those crazy guys.”

So I will admit that I’ve seen very little video of these two, just clips, because keeping up with QSMP was a full-time job and I already had a full schedule. But every clip I’ve seen fills me with delight. Bagi saying Goodbye I love you and combat-logging after the admission and Tina screaming and punching someone. That whole thing where Bagi and Tina both exhibit red flags at each other and both of them just bat eyes at each other like “god my favourite colour is red, do that again”. There’s a fic I read over the winter where tina was sad and to cheer her up bagi forged her signature on a wedding certificate so now they were legally married (as a surprise pick-me-up) and tina was like OMG SHE LOVES ME THIS IS SO ROMANTIC. It seems like the only way out of the time loop is "accepting the loss" but he refuses to do that, because surely if he does this enough times he can figure out a way to save people? And then by pure stubbornness and tactics and don’t ever ever say die he defeats the time loop and saves people? (Note that with this prompt I’m okay with major character death cause it doesn’t stick.)

Okay I was just going to leave it here but NO I do have thoughts. Which is that the whole thing that has drawn me to this canon is the friendships– watching the videos you just keep getting the impression that people are FRIENDS, that they’re glad to see each other. I am a person who gloms onto friendship first, so I’m grabbing all of them and holding them up to the camera. Have them be steadfast allies, have them be an uneasy alliance, mix it up, but they like hanging out together, they want to know what each other are up to. They want to help each other out.

AND they’re dudes who don’t talk about their feelings or process things, let’s put them in situations! Let’s hear it for SITUATIONS. High stakes– a rescue, a heist, a cyberpunk business takeover, a being-stranded-in-the-end– or lower those stakes right back down and let them deal with mundanity– bantering at the base, LAN party in a modern au, travel somewhere– or put them in an entirely different setting that puts everything in a new light– i keep coming back to BDSM au after battleship, something set in space, sky’s the limit. I just really like the friendships and would love to see them explored in any setting you like– and while we’re at it, why not include kissing!

So obviously this one is just a killer premise on the face of it, but part of what compels me about it is the idea that these people are so used to war and violence and suddenly have to adjust to peace and domesticity. The absolute surreality of it all, of having been at war until that was all you know, and now you have to mow your lawn. You have to go to the grocery store, you have to decide on the best type of oranges to buy. And the only person who really understands you is this guy who was your enemy. Who’s sleeping next to you and asking if you want coffee. What do you even do with that? Maybe start bantering at each other and kiss?

Look, Chayanne’s hero worship is such a big feature of his character– what if he actually got to meet the guy who was so larger than life in his dad’s stories? What if they could be friends?

I am a big fan of using sign, physical signs, or a AAC for the eggs to communicate, but do what works best for the narrative!

Specific Ideas:

Chayanne struggling in the eggs’ time in Purgatory, and gets help from Technoblade! A physical person there to punch mobs, or more of a guardian angel metaphysical situation? You decide!
Something set else-server, where Chayanne is travelling the broader world to visit (or meets) Techno and they become friends! I think Chayanne could be so sarcastic and eleven and then so overcome to realize he’s talking to THE TECHNOBLADE
Chayanne shows off the potato farm and Techno tells him he did a good job and maybe tells him more about the Potato war! Look I am not immune to Chayanne gets positive affirmation, and I think that would be pretty positive affirmation for Techno too.
Play more with MCYT tropes– Chayanne gets kidnapped by Bad Guys and there is this other guy here who keeps making jokes and Chayanne is doing his best to make jokes back, and be brave (for other kids? Are there other kids here?) and then they BREAK OUT TOGETHER.

Emduo in Stardew Valley

Look. I have no concrete things here, I am simply holding up the potato war in one hand, and how hard Techno could go, and Phil’s also dedication to the grindset/terraforming, and I am holding up Stardew Valley in the other. What happens if you put war crimes anarchists in a domesticity town? What sort of a retirement is this like? What do they do at festivals and the feast of the winter star and rebuilding the museum? Does techno accidentally romance someone and then panic about it? (I do this every time.) Does phil learn wizardry (i remain firm that redstone can be magic)? Do they struggle with fishing? I would just like to see the blorbos in a new place together finding a new way to live.

Emduo in Murderbot

I just think “im a person too” and “you only saw me as a weapon” could go hard if you make techno ACTUALLY A MURDERBOT. All my things about what I love about these guys still apply, and then you throw in trying to be seen as a person and have individuality and find things that make life worth living, and you are basically still viewed as a gun. And I think Phil as a ship could go hard (bird man fly). OR phil as an enhanced human who’s just kind of way too chill about his capabilities. I think friendship and loyalty and not being good at talking about it, expressing care in your actions, fucking up some corporations (or BEING fucked up by some corporations and then escaping out again), and finding care in each other.

My preference would be emduo having always lived in this world (not isekaied) and for this not to be a huge crossover of murderbot characters, though cameos are fine! I’m specifically allured by the setting and putting the blorbos in it. What if techno escapes his programming and then finds a FRIEND.
