Okay So over the course of this letter I’ve included a bunch of & ships and a bunch of / ships. The line for that is honestly pretty blurry for me, as you may have seen by the fact that in a couple cases I literally included both tags. I have QPRs as part of my likes, I love it when relationships are a secret third thing.

But, I did specifically request specific tags in certain formats, so what does that mean? I tried to include general guidance per ship, but this is a sort of thing where the more you start thinking about it the less clear it gets. My general rule of thumb is:

If I only requested it &, I’d prefer to stay away from anything sexual. Sprawling together on the couch/cuddling is fine but if we get into things like touch starvation/it feels so good I’d ask that you be careful that it doesn’t get into sexual overtones. Make those people so lonely and so grateful to have each other, but this is my bestie/mentor/club member/chosen bro– they may be important to me, but we’re not sharing a bed.
A QPR/Secret third thing for me is once you start going ah yes. This is my person. This could be sexual/touchy or not, married or not, but you probably live together, you would sign a mortgage together, you might share a bed, but a whole part of complicated arospec feelings fit into this place– it’s not romantic, but yes I want the rest of my life with you. Things that make a relationship feel more QPR to me is aro feelings, loyalty, explicit discussion of how a relationship is non-standard yet important, life commitment, knowing each other so well (know how they take their coffee, know all their tells) without having to talk about it– this is my PERSON we come as a duo. You start to go “this is looking more romantic– but not quite”-- it’s getting hard to define. Not romantic not platonic but a secret third thing (so devoted the lines blur). There is quite a lot that fits in this box. Do you want to come home to me can be romantic– or it can fit here! You start to feel like language is not quite capturing the situation– this is my friend yes but that’s not only it. This is my husband but probably not with the assumptions you bring to the table with that. We’re not quite doing things the way you’d expect but we know what we are to each other and that’s all that’s needed.
FWB is Friends with Benefits– sometimes you gotta suck your bro’s dick as a bro. No romantic feelings but yes sex. You’re not life partners probably though you’d want this person to stay around. Just friends! Except I know how to get you off.
Romantic for me is more once you start getting into “ah yes, this is my other half” type thinking. Yearning. Marriage is something that feels like it fits for this relationship. Sex is probably on the table (though in most cases I’d be fine with ace spec interpretations), and you want to make a life together. If I only requested it / I’d prefer to avoid things like “my platonic husband”. Things that can make a relationship feel more romantic to me include being touchy, yearning, straightforward discussion of someone being an other half/soulmates– mostly I start classifying it romantic if it’s straightforward. There’s no aro struggling for words to define things here, the language everyone uses can work for you too. You can say this is my girlfriend and know how people will perceive that and that doesn’t feel like it would be subtly wrong.

I still like canon-adjacent for these ships, especially side scenes or post-canon, but I also really love aus along the whole spectrum from “canon with a twist” to “we build this shit ENTIRELY from the ground up”.

Okay like fucking hit me. This is the ship that got me writing fic, shipping, and interested in fandom in general. I like them all ways. Romantic or platonic or QPR. I just want them to be besties. I'm interested both in like explorations of worldbuilding because we like aus or focused domesticity, established relationship or pining, fuck– qpr it or romantic I like it still. Big beefy techno, pretty boy techno, bastard Phil, considerate nerd phil, either person being pregnant, an exploration of disability and healing, something set like to the minute after doomsday or in an au with no connection to canon— follow your bliss.

Likes for this ship: I am having trouble summing this up, forgive me. I like it when Phil is a bastard, and I also like it when he is an anxiety basket case. I like it when Phil can make Techno's head go quiet and Techno trusts him enough to get him to do that. I like it when Techno is the one person Phil relaxes around. I like it when Techno is anxious and this does not stop him at all. I like them both autistic. I like it when they love each other but they are not good at saying it so they will just show it— hand you a totem of undying, build my house next to yours, come when you call. I like loyalty oaths. I like it when they are terrifying badass motherfuckers who WILL bomb you to bedrock, and I like it when they watch turtles hatch. I like canon and I like aus. I like it when they fuck nasty and I like it when they watch a TV show together. I like them as any combination of ace, aro, allo, autistic, anxious, anarchist– have some fun with it. You know that tumblr post that's like "if something tried to lure me with an impostor of someone I knew I’d just lasso the thing and take him home to enjoy my friends Dave and Evil Dave"? That but redza.
Phil and Techno are heroes and villains on the opposite sides, and the hero one gets absolutely whammied/whumped by other villains, and then the villain has to rescue them and take them home to recover. Alternately, fuck them up with the “hero and villain captured by worse villain” original works prompt.
cliches are bad, you say? What about enemy shows up bloody and bruised on your doorstep because they had nowhere else to turn? Hmmm? That’s what I THOUGHT.
Okay so I’ve seen this trope happen TWICE with reincarnation, including in the death shall come on swift wings and in the aufest omegaverse au, and neither one really leaned into this, and I simply think it could go so fucking hard if you have techno who thinks he’s being captured to be tortured or that he has to kill the emperor/god/mafia boss, and then the emperor takes him alive, and then he wakes up in the emperor’s bed.
What if Techno was a very neurodivergent kid and Phil was the also kid who can turn into a crow who he met in the woods. And they were friends. (Note: I think this one could turn into “and it’s the apocalypse” or “and then friendship and happiness” so follow your bliss.)
Based on that web weave about emduo betrayal, but I couldn’t leave it there, but what if we have the emduo betrayal ideas:

One where Techno is like a king in a cutthroat court and always on edge and being betrayed and all he wants is to be able to trust someone and Phil is an adviser using him like the rest and THEN a different phil gets isekaied into adviser phil and he literally can’t fathom being horrible to a techno who likes and trusts him
Star trek mirrorverse type situation where a techno from the mirrorverse (phil is his superior who expects service and sexual favours in return for protection) swaps with a techno from alpha verse where emduo are nerd besties. And we follow this techno who is experiencing friendship and loyalty for the first time and something in him just is a plant getting sunlight for the first time (and maybe starts kissing Phil and phil is startled and delighted and and something happens there and techno is continuously startled when phil is kind to him).

Phil gets killed and Techno is gonna stop at absolutely nothing to get the revival book to get him back.

They were both so lonely they found a way to talk to each other. And then he finds a way to bring him back to life and they hug and neither of them is alone any more.

Ahahahaha. *the camera pans to me, who started watching during the prison arc* *I am pressing my hands to the class like the sickos emote* Look. It's good. It's a good dynamic, okay? On the one hand you have platonic preyduo and what if you had two guys who were constantly in conflict and you make them have to rely on each other? Like I hear and I see you pointing to canon violence but what if they argued but ALSO they were friends? I am very predictable, yes, I know. And also in the other hand you have KISSING options, including those where Phil is here, and— what if Quackity got pregnant? What then? Isn't this an appealing concept I'm showing you? There's size difference and arguing and possibly knocking someone up in the mix? You are with me, I know. I am constantly holding up Quackity trying to kill Techno in butcher’s army in one hand and in the other hand I have “did I just say I love you Technoblade live on stream”. WHAT IF WE PUT THEM IN A BLENDER TOGETHER.

Note that I’d prefer if the goal for techno was to free Q basically as soon as lega/viablel, though Q can be unaware of that.
techno and quackity ‘sham marriage’ for a deal where techno is chiller than quackity’s previous non-sham marriage and quackity has a crisis over it– and again, keep this platonic OR make them kiss
“Omegas Are Assigned To Groups Of Alphas To Keep The Alphas From Getting Too Aggressive”. So Omegaverse dystopian horror and people doing their best despite going THIS SYSTEM IS A NIGHTMARE is something that can be so interesting to me. Especially if you start to unpack people who think it’s their job to be available for sex, and other people who care about consent a lot actually and find this horrifying.
Enemy shows up, beaten and bloodied, at their enemy’s door. LOOK IT”S A GOOD TROPE OKAY. I think this could be so preyduo and I think I am just weak to being trustworthy with people.
Post-canon meeting up– is one of them injured? Is one of them in heat? Why do they have to work together? What happens next?
Going to a person you hate for help because there’s no one else (In an au or in canon!)
Okay so, to back up a bit: there’s an au that you may have seen circulating where Technoblade, either because of a curse or because of mob hybrid status, cannot refuse a direct order. That’s why Tubbo’s execution, and that’s also why he gets super squirrelly about talking around things as soon as people start asking him for things. So this as the premise, and there is some peril (egg? dreamXD gone crazy? Code decay? dragon?) and Techno has to go to Quackity for help– think it’s sometime in Las Nevadas or something. And Quackity then reveals that he knows about this little quirk of Techno’s. And Techno is like well I had a good run of having free will I guess that’s over, at least I can take comfort in the fact that Phil is gonna kill quackity in the face, and then

Quackity deciding that he COULD be that person, but idk, is this post his slime death? Is he just thinking about cycles of violence? Did he just with a vague sense of surprise just find his line in the sand? Is he thinking about someone else’s affection for techno (tommy?)-- but he decides no. that’s not who I’m gonna be. And is trustworthy with Techno’s literal life in his hands.

I am a recent convert to this ship, I’ve seen things going around and I didn’t really get it but I supported it and then like a month ago I sat upright and was like “niki nihachu deserves to be kissed and supported and I know just the guys to do it” and here we are.

Likes for this ship: God. I think Niki Nihachu deserves the world and she should get a partner or two who adores her. She should get to be angry and she should get to be held and she should have Really Good Sex and be kissed all over her face about it. I like it when Techno is a neurodivergent nerd, whether he's a beefy boy or built like someone who plays competitive bedwars. I like it when Phil was so lonely for so long and that still weighs on him sometimes, but he has people now. I like it when both Phil and Techno are gentle with Niki and that sometimes means treating her normally, not like glass. I like it when Niki is the heart of the story and she watch as she gets to find herself loving again.

Prompts:

Established techza courting Niki (they are bad at it) but she thinks they’re not serious.
Playing with hybrid worldbuilding– what if niki was piglin? Is she connected to her culture or removed from it and does she have feelings about that? What if she was avian/elytrian? I have seen some approaches to this with niki as diaspora and they make me go crazy, or just fucking throw up a bunch of worldbuilding here!
Recovering after a bad/abusive/complex relationship– guys I am taking my heart in my hands here and asking for a lot because this one is a lot but I’m hopefull. All of technikiza has a history with wilbur– what if an exploration of that grief and hurt and sorrow and moving forward. Note that for this one I’m okay with an exploration of niki and wilbur as being abusive/neglectful, but the needle I am asking to thread is that there is no outright vilification of wilbur by the narrative (niki can feel however she feels and that’s fair), I am asking for a thing where yes it was bad and even abusive and wilbur was at fault but also there were reasons, you get me? Avoid the insane wilbur soot tag, etc. Let it be complicated, grief is complicated, healing is complicated. But let them find comfort in each other.
Just sex with niki having a wonderful time– do a character study about all of them kind of being tentative and sincere and loving each other, or just smut about how many orgasms two dedicated nerds can wring out of their girlfriend. Go crazy.

So over the summer I wrote a mech au with kristin as the main character and then I sat bolt upright and was like “my wise friends are so wise. I need to do more with these people”. God. A goddess and her devotee, an exploration of loyalty, an exploration of love. I like both when people really lean into the divinity, or if people set an AU where Kristin is just human– but the unshakeable loyalty and devotion is still there.

I just ask that you not bash the rest of the syndicate– if you feel that you can’t write later lore without reflecting on syndicate as being bad people or bad for niki, I ask that you not write that time period– I think that’s a valid interpretation, I just would prefer it not in my gift. It seems like the only way out of the time loop is "accepting the loss" but he refuses to do that, because surely if he does this enough times he can figure out a way to save people? And then by pure stubbornness and tactics and don’t ever ever say die he defeats the time loop and saves people? (Note that with this prompt I’m okay with major character death cause it doesn’t stick.)
Retelling the taking over the world or the moon battle in a new funky format-- script, or 2nd person, or found footage, or epistolary-- go for it!
